The meeting of The World Quintet and the London Mozart Players came about when the Quintet were looking to make their unique sound fuller, bigger and richer, by combining it with a classical orchestra. The initial collaboration surpassed all expectations on both sides; here was truly a music which brought together classical and jazz musicians in one unified whole. The partnership's first UK dates raised audiences to their feet in delight. Recordings followed at Abbey Road Studios, and the CD, The World Quintet was released on Enja Records to coincide with a five concert tour in autumn 2002.

This programme has been performed at Colston Hall, Bristol, The Anvil, Basingstoke, Warwick Arts Centre, Queen Elizabeth Hall, London and Chichester Festivities.
