Piers Adams - Programmes
FLIGHT OF THE EAGLE
PIERS ADAMS & HOWARD BEACH (piano)
For centuries the recorder has had a reputation as a second-class instrument, championed by amateurs and schoolchildren. In the hands of superstar player Piers Adams, assisted by the nimble fingers of pianist Howard Beach and the vision of Dutch craftswoman Adriana Breukink – creator of the remarkable Eagle Recorder range – the instrument has truly come of age. Majestic, melodic and thrillingly virtuosic, Flight of the Eagle will transport you across ages and continents, bringing the recorder soaring onto the 21st century concert stage.
Wild Men of the Baroque

FAMILY CONCERT (recorder and harpsichord)
THE FLYING RECORDER
Join Piers Adams in a special family concert of high-flying recorder music
from seven centuries and several countries.
The programme will include a medieval Italian Jumping Dance, baroque favourites by
Vivaldi (with extracts from the Four Seasons), Bach and Handel, romantic showpieces and
love-songs, energetic gypsy dances and strange modern music featuring tropical rain-forest
birds and a deadly dancing spider!
This lively recital will be informally introduced by the performers, with some participation
from the audience, and will feature no fewer than 15 different recorders ranging from the bass
to the tiny ‘garklein’.
Come and hear just why Piers Adams has been described by the Washington Post (USA) as
“The reigning recorder virtuoso in the world today”.
