3: Pastoral dance
SUMMER
1: Languishing in the heat—cuckoos—a turtle-dove—a goldfinch—warm Summer winds—a shepherd crying out in fear of the coming storm, with his dog—more Summer winds
2: Uneasy rest in a meadow, with mosquitoes and thunder
3: A violent Summer storm
AUTUMN
1: The harvest dance—staggering drunkards—dozing drunkards—waking up for the last dance
2: Sleeping drunkards; weird dreams…
3: An Autumn hunt—a fleeing stag, with rifle-shots and hounds—the stag dies, and ascends to Heaven
WINTER
1: Bitter frostbite—cruel winds—stamping feet to keep warm in the cold—howling winds—chattering teeth—more stamping feet
2: Peaceful and content by the fire, with freezing rain outside; dreaming of the Caribbean…
